A Few of My Favorite Things

Jazmin December 3rd, 2008 by Jazmin

NorCal-ster Jazmin has a remarkable sensibility. On Wednesdays she’ll be sharing with us some of the many ideas,images and necessities scrolling through her head.

California has finally decided to catch up with the rest of the country and partake in the lovely season known as Winter. When I mean Winter just started I really do mean Winter just started. Two weeks ago I was cold-chillin’, no pun intended, in nothing but sandals and dresses. That all changed last week with our first dip in temperatures. With this all upon us its that time to bundle up with Winter necessities.

FUR

Faux, real or vintage its alllll goood in my book. Whether you’re down for Russian fur hats or a full-on “Little Edie from Grey Gardens” inspired coat, theres no way you can go wrong. Fur in general transcends through all boundaries whether you are a senile woman;

Or a person like me who is always trying to bring the 70’s back.

For Men I’d say you can substitute fur with natural rugged man fur, a-la” Grizzly Adams.”

Thigh-High Boots

Excellent for any woman who is not afraid to go there. The best part is that they come in a variety of sleez levels. From dominatrix to fashionista. I was so close to choosing some pleather lace up ones:

Instead I bought some raspberry suede 4″ heel ones, mainly because they would make 80’s Prince proud.

Flannel Sheets

What better way to stay cozy then to have some Al Borland in your life. Okay so flannel sheets come in a variety of prints not just my favorite buffalo flannel print, but it’s obviously the best choice.

Sequins Chucks

I heard sequins were in for this season, I say sequins have always been in….just in moderation of course. I picked sequins chucks because they are just the right amount of festivity for the holiday season, but without being obnoxious like the old woman’s snowman vest at the post office. These come in both high-top and low top and come in a million and one colors, so if you’re anti-pink they do have black.

Yankee Candle

Arguably the best brand for long lasting and most potent aroma, Yankee Candle has brought back theirĀ  “seasonal favorites.” I like to buy “Clean Cotton” for both my house and my car during spring and summer, but you gotta switch it up for the winter. This time around I chose “Autumn Wreath” fragrance fan for the ol’ automobile.
