Blocked!
Nepotism makes the world go round, but so does money and corruption, but this time the US Senate secretary Nancy Erickson put her foot down by blocking Roland Burris’ appointment to the Senate. He was appointed by scandal-embroiled governor Rod Blagojevich of Illinois. In order for Burris’ to become a senator he needed signatures from Blagojevich and Erickson and she simply said “no.”
Blagojevich is accused of selling the Senate seat vacated by President-Elect Barack Obama. Blagojevich has denied any wrong doing, but it appears otherwise. Apparently he wanted high ranking positions for his wife in exchange for that seat, and as we all know that’s a no-no.
Blagojevich was asked to step down from his position and he said that he was elected to do a job by the people of Illinois and he will continue to do that job until he’s either finished or removed from office.
