Puppy Love Part 3: Jealous Love (Thelo’s Wrath)

Thelonious, my 9 month old Amstaff, was not pleased I brought home Millie, a 9 week old puppy because caring for her cut into my time for him. So he decided to act out by chewing up my records. His depressed state is shown here as he’s laying forlornly in a cage I no longer put him in because he’s clearly outgrown it. Consequently I moved my records and hopefully he wont chew on anymore of my shit. Wrong.

Amstaffs are very sensitive, like a lover who doesn’t share your enthusiasm. It’s either you show them you mean the world to them, as they show you once you enter the door, or they’re going to find something of yours they know you value and chew that shit up.

Day one he chewed up one of my favorite records of all time, “Invisible Touch” by Genesis. Yeah I lost it, but I took him out for a long walk and had a makeout session with him later that night to make it up to him.

Day two he chewed up a Queen record of mine. He caught a Crown Heights-style beating. I thought that would clearly communicate my point. I was wrong.

Day three this is what I came home to. My roommate locked him up for disciplinary reasons and kept him from feasting on my Madvillian record. I appreciated that.

Apparently House of Pain and Puff Daddy and The Family aren’t to his liking.

He didn’t have the patience for Miles Davis.

Or Barry White

Or Cal Tjader, thankfully.
