Shure E3C Headphones by Joe Sinclair

I originally received the E3C’s as a gift to replace my original iPod earbuds. Not only do the Shure’s provide a far superior range of sound, but I find them to be much more comfortable as well. Included with the earbuds are a carrying case and a number of rubber flex sleeves. You can also purchase triple flange sleeves directly from Shure or have custom ear molds made by a hearing professional.

When I initially tried them out I really didn’t think they were anything special, certainly not worth the $120-$200 price tag. This, however, was entirely my own fault. I found out that it’s very important to follow the fitting instructions that come with the equipment. The E3C’s use an in-ear design which if inserted too far or not far enough drastically reduces not only the noise reduction capabilities, but also the range of sound. I personally use these when mowing the lawn and with my iPod set to about 75% volume I can hardly hear the lawnmower at all. I would have to say the most impressive feature of these earbuds is the amount of bass they produce when inserted correctly. Previous to my iPod earbuds I used to use a cheap pair of Sony’s which I thought generated a good amount of bas. The Shure’s blow them out of the water.

I find the range of sound produced by the single driver to be amazing. These are a product that I would definitely recommend to anyone who values high quality sound in a very small, comfortable package.
